AMD / EMBEDDED LINUX

AMD is moving embedded Linux development from PetaLinux to EDF.

AMD describes the Embedded Development Framework as the replacement for the PetaLinux tools and recommends EDF for future projects. EDF works directly with Yocto Project layers and uses a different BSP and project structure.

Moving an existing product involves more than translating build commands. The boot configuration, kernel and root filesystem changes, device tree, FPGA artifacts, applications, and release process all need to carry over. For maintained products, it is worth planning and testing that migration before it becomes tied to a feature deadline.
